Is there a Better Place on Earth for a Golf Lesson than Aurora Anguilla?

One of the most difficult things to do as an average golfer trying to learn the game or simply get better at it is to allow another voice into your head. Chances are you already have an instructor at your local course, and you also obviously exist as your own worst critic between your ears. That was even once the case for me, as I firmly believed that too many cooks can ruin your performance in the kitchen; however, it was actually quite easy to change my mind.

For starters, the most important lesson I ever had took place next to a shack near the driving range at The Links at Divi Aruba, while the most mentally refreshing instruction I received happened at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic. That is to say, resorts don’t typically pick any old teacher off the streets and ask them to move thousands of miles away — they’re almost always worth every penny. And it’s safe to assume that’s the case with what is arguably the best tropical golf deal you’ll find this year.

Aurora Anguilla is already well-known as one of the best all-around resort experiences anywhere in the Caribbean, and it is the essential place to be when it comes to visiting its namesake island. What makes it especially attractive to traveling golfers is that it is home to the Aurora International Golf Course, which was recently “remastered” by Greg Norman and is arguably the best 18-hole experience in the Caribbean (at the very least, it is tied with Teeth of the Dog, La Cana, and Old Quarry in my personal rankings), as well as the recently debuted short course, Avalon Links.

If your vacation goal is simply to enjoy beautiful beaches, a pool with stunning views, and exceptional cuisine all in a luxurious setting, this is already the resort to choose. However, if you want to play golf and get better in the process, you need to book flights immediately, because Aurora Anguilla is offering a limited “Ultimate” golf experience that turns your vacation into a crash course on getting better on, well, the course.

Each morning of this three-day program begins with breakfast at the clubhouse before a three-hour lesson within the Aurora International Golf Academy and adjacent practice facilities. Following what I assume is a delicious lunch, the lesson heads to the course, which is undoubtedly the best way to learn on the fly. While this isn’t a one-on-one lesson, there is a cap of 4-to-1 students to instructor, so everyone will get plenty of attention from either head professional Richard Phillips or head assistant professional Nick Sharples. And if that’s not enough, you’ll receive credit at the pro shop, so you can grab a polo to wear on your home course while telling your fellow high-handicappers why you’re suddenly much more confident.

As I mentioned, though, the clock is ticking. There are only two remaining sets of dates to take advantage of this package: April 17-19 (the best way to spend Easter weekend) and May 8-10. After that, you’ll likely just be hacking and slicing your way through paradise.
