American Airlines Delivers an Early Christmas Miracle with New Service to Casa de Campo

They say that good things come to those who wait, but have they ever had to sit in a car for an hour or so to get from Punta Cana International Airport to Casa de Campo Resort and Villas? Truly, the reward is well worth the endeavor, as anyone who has ever visited this stunning property will surely attest, but that will never stop us from dreaming of the day when getting to this golf- and wellness-focused escape will be as easy as getting off the plane and driving across the street.

It turns out that day is December 5, 2024. American Airlines recently announced the addition of eight new winter routes to the Caribbean and Latin America, including a direct flight from Miami to La Romana International Airport, which is, of course, located right next to Casa de Campo. No longer will fancy businessmen and private jetters be the only travelers experiencing this exceptional convenience, as golfers from all over the U.S. will soon enjoy the thrill of not having to wait an hour for their clubs to arrive at the PUJ carousel.

There’s obviously so much more than golf for guests to enjoy at this sprawling resort community that is also home to some truly luxurious vacation palaces. For starters, the new Spa at Casa de Campo boasts more than 2,000-sq. meters of pure bliss in an unimaginably stylish setting, while the Premier Club simply adds another layer of exclusivity to your visit, be it a couple’s retreat or full family getaway.

However, with Teeth of the Dog’s status as a perennial contender for the best course in the Caribbean, golf is clearly a centerpiece of most vacations here. And that makes the timing of this new offering a little more crucial, too. Beginning in January 2025, Teeth of the Dog will undergo a restoration project that will presumably make the course unavailable for most of 2025. Jerry Pate Design has accepted the challenge of improving this widely celebrated Pete Dye design, and the primary focus will be regressing with Dynasty Paspalum; however, there will be other cosmetic enhancements.

That’s not to say golfers should steer clear of Casa de Campo next year. In fact, it’s just the opposite. While Teeth gets most of the love, Dye Fore and The Links offer players 27 holes of varying challenges, with The Chavon’s nine holes offering arguably better views of the island’s unbelievable beauty than any course in the Dominican Republic. At the very least, guests can enjoy a tune-up with the fantastic team at the Golf Learning Center, which offers private one-hour lessons or the 1-day Ultimate School for those of us who are mostly out there for the delicious between-hole margaritas.
